“The 1” is the debut track from Wolverhampton based three piece
act Wolf Slang. An announcement was made by members of the
band late March on Facebook that they were revealing their first
song; since its release it's been given airtime on BBC introducing,
made “The A List” on Brum Radio and been well received by the
bands supporters, but what's the song like and why is it of
significance?
VERDICT
:
One reason excitement appears to be heavily
building up for this song and the band is because
since this one track has been made public, it has
pleasantly surprised critics and arguably given
them good reason to consider that
Wolverhampton may well be churning out acts
with the potential to restore the credibility of UK
pop music. Obviously Liam Payne came out from
the area but two years ago Wolverhampton indie
rockers Jump The Shark made national
headlines earning a Young Brit Award with their
song “There’s Always One” and it's looking
considerably likely that Wolf Slang are next in the
queue for popularity with “The 1”. It's a very well
written pop tune, excellent production, suited and
booted to tick all the music industry boxes if you
say compare them with current successful pop
bands like The 1975 and it's quite refreshing. The
band consists of musicians Ryan Evans, Aiden
Best and Connor Dowdeswell and if this first
single is just their debut, then we can hope to
expect much bigger things from these three
songwriters in the near future.
