END OF THE RAINBOW?
Following on from the closure of The
Adam & Eve a couple of years ago,
sad news reaches us regarding the
possible but very likely closure of
another live venue - The Rainbow pub
in Digbeth, Birmingham. The Victorian
pub is a well established part of the
Digbeth night-time scene, hosting an
eclectic selection of music acts and
spawning the hugely successful ‘The Rainbow Venues’. Home to some
fantastic local bands over the years including UB40 and Ocean Colour
Scene, the current owner, Lee McDonald, is looking for someone to take
over the lease of this once thriving pub and said “I have realised after
celebrating 13 years of The Rainbow Venues with Chapter Festival, The
Rainbow brand really has moved on and I want to concentrate all of my
efforts on the growing Lower Trinity Street and really focus on developing
The Rainbow Arena, The Rainbow Warehouse, Blackbox, Roof Garden and
of course Spotlight and Mama Roux”.
The lease for the pub is available, but you will need to get yer skates on if
you fancy taking over this iconic pub as deadline is 28th of this month. For
branding reasons, the name doesn’t come with the pub so you will need to
rebrand the venue too. We hope someone can be found to take the pub
over and wish Lee well with his other very successful venues in the area.
