Verdict:
Marlowsounds from West Bromwich
will definitely appeal to fans of Oasis and Ocean
Colour Scene; this is a brilliant sounding band
with a well produced album slamming something
different to the normal, and at times overdone,
indie template. Highlights are the exceptionally
epic "Can't Find" with what I'm going to say is a
trademark Marlowsounds hook chorus. When
you hear a chorus to any Marlowsounds song
then you'll understand why I'm giving this re-
lease Album of the month. "Close The Door" kind
of surprised me as it's like half-speed heavy
metal with an indie vibe, opener "Where Did It
Go" lyrically reveals songwriter Tom
Greenhalgh's extensive knowledge of He-Man
action figures but track "The Sun" is where
vocally we hear what I'd class as the strongest
performance. Finally we end with the stomping
"Different Kind" which is a perfect album closer.
My only criticism is that it could have run longer
but it's three minutes of great rock. Worth your
time.

Verdict:
This debut twelve track album Black
Sunlight from Stourbridge based singer
songwriter Coyote Grove is a deep and well
thought out mild acoustic rock release teasing
us with an overwhelming sense of nostalgic
atmospheric melancholy. Highlights are title
track "Black Sunlight", the delicate guitar
textures of "Give It Away" and the breath taking
"(reprise)" with its powerful arrangement. Then
there's the romantic tones of "Beautiful Soul"
and the upbeat "She Always Lets Me Down";
both of which I think you'll chill out to. The
songwriting, guitar work and feel is very
reminiscent of parts of songs like "breathe" and
"Great Gig In The Sky" by Pink Floyd but Coyote
Grove aim for a more ambient and spiritual
approach. The entire album is a slow paced but
captivating spiritual journey. Fans of the original
1970's Television series the Incredible Hulk will
love "The Monster In Me" lyrically because of
how it suggests that it was the actions and
behaviour of character Mr Jack McGee following
and harassing David Banner which created the
monster. I recommend promoters check out
opening track "Gone So Long" and "Howdah To
Anywhere". Excellent songwriting.
