The
HOWWE LISTEN TOMUSIC
The way the general public consume and
listen to music has changed Yes years ago
the portable CD player or the radio was the
standard but these days people streammusic
using their Smart Phone It means that
isteners can not only play music anywhere
they like but also decide to buy music
wherever they are You can talk about your
music to someone in a pub or club mention
that your band is on Spotify and within
minutes that person can be streaming you
and later sharing your tunes Whether you
like using technology or not that's how easy
it is to spread your music Gone are the days
of "Oh man stay right there and let me run
back home and get a copy of my album to
show you what my band sounds like" hell
you can text someone your entire back
catalogue in seconds

If your band is writing original tunes and
really wants to have some kind of future in
music then the reality is that you need to sell
records They have to be great songs and
you're going to have to invest your own
money to get them recorded professionally
You may have to do all the work yourself and
record labels may not be interested in you
right now but if you start selling records then
perhaps that will change things? Good luck
Nick J Townsend is the frontman and
guitarist for British band Weak13
