STOP KILLING PUBS
Whilst I have a very keen desire to support
Macmillan and their campaign to
‘Go sober
in October’
, I think it may be just a tad
misguided. Perhaps a better course of
action would be to stop buying alcohol from
supermarkets for a month, then, with the
money you would have spent on discounted
and loss-leading supermarket booze, make
a donation to Macmillan on the way to your
local boozer. That way, instead of staying
sober and putting yet another nail in your
local boozers coffin - we all get to be merry, feel good about ourselves and in
the process help out our long suffering Landlords and Macmillan at the same
time. I myself am off the piss purely because I need to lose a stone and get
my levels down in time for my yearly diabetes check up, though I’ve heard
Vodka & diet Coke is very good as a beer replacement and can be part of a
calorie controlled diet, ahem... One way or another, it’s going to be a bloody
long month!
