Verdict:
The latest release from The Alopecia Trio is funny offensive raw and their album cover reminds
me of my childhood What arguably began as a jolly experimental jam has now grown into something much
needed in modern music; a rebellious surge of raw life 'Meconium' reeks of an "I don't give a fuck" mentality a
mixed batch of tunes ranging from the down right rude to tender masterpieces Some stronger than others but
all demonstrating a middle finger Album opener 'The Quim Of Beelzebub' with it's hilarious line "Is hotter than
the sun" sets you up for a ride of silliness sadism and rock 'n roll 'Bum Trumpet' is armed with fart jokes 'Eat
You' darkens the tone with cannibalism and then they totally catch you off guard with subtle and epic songs
like 'St Mary Magdalene' which also reveals what a band of fine players they are Subject wise 'Dry My Little
Tinkle' is original as hell and bizarrely is executed with such love and sensitivity that you are left curious as to
whether the band are being extremely thoughtful or sarcastic Far from predictable and an enjoyable listen

Verdict:
Really enjoyed this three track EP from Blackcountry piece Empires of Light I don't pretend to
sound like an expert but if you are aware of drone or sludge metal which I believe best describes the bulk of
this band's output then you'll appreciate the abrasive sounds and doom metal elements that are prominent
throughout Remarkably opener 'Sumerian' cleverly ignores distortion to begin with and yet suckers you into
the doom genre by skillfully using only haunting clean guitar work precision drumming and death metal vo
cals To me and I mean this in a positive way this is great background metal Altogether over twenty minutes
of slow paced aggressive atmosphere (not ideal for any single chart) so artistically crafted that you'll play
'Apricity' back to back and hit repeat 'Dalmatia' which is instrumental and consists of pure feedback is a work
of pure genius as it produces the same calming qualities as meditation The remaining track 'Meredith' is dy
namic and laden with dark weighted doom riffs; the bassist has fun here Vocals are tremendous on this it
takes a skilled front man to pull off the growl work created here and keep it interesting at times reminiscent
of early Jeff Walker in consistency A smart release; definitely a CD to wake up grandfather

Verdict:
I love a little pschobilly from time to time and that’s what you get on this
track album from Halesowen band The Teenage Zombies ‘Zombiefied’ is pretty much what you’d expect
full of tongue in cheek references to horror sc fi and exploitation movies and lots of songs about zombies
or what dead people do ‘The Dead Rock’ ‘Teenage Zombies’ ‘Zombiefied’ and ‘Monster’ tick all the boxes
Now let’s talk music ‘Bread For The Dead’ is a fast uptempo honky tonk surf punk rock song full of guitar
twang and style it’s a joy to hear great playing simple to the gritty point lyrics too and done in a real flash
way ‘Satan’s Slaves’ would fit a Tarantino soundtrack Lyrically ‘Wigga Town’ moves from the horror theme
and offers a well deserved stab at close minded locals I enjoyed this album but unless you love trashabilly
surfabilly rockabilly or any other type of Billy (Not Elliot or Idol) then this may not be for you but I think it
would make a great addition to your CD collection It’s fun and for fucks sake it’s about zombies so buy it
