RGG:
After you released the music video for the
Buzzard single 'Kamikaze' many of your fans
have described the band sound as “Nirvana
meets Motörhead”; do statements such as that
best explain what Buzzard songs are like?
Jimmy Croutear:
“I'd like to think that hopefully our
influences such as Motörhead and Nirvana are
recognised in a positive way and that our songs
are written in a universal way and touch on the
strings of people's thoughts and feelings and are
easy to relate to in today's day to day life. For
example 'Step it up' is about overcoming
depression, 'Kamikaze' is about extremist violent
beliefs, 'Another Chain' is about mental and
physical abuse and 'You Deserve Better' is
about modern day slavery. 'Internet Superstar'
focuses on the glossy, sometimes fake world,
we are forcefully rooted into whilst 'Frustration'
is about being a teenager taking their first step
into the adult world and feeling like the whole
world is against them etc”
RGG:
You've announced that Buzzard are
currently recording 'Valium Gorillas' which is the
follow up to your 2014 debut album titled 'All
Roads Lead To...'; how would you say this
second album will differ to your first?
Jimmy Croutear:
“Well for a start it sounds heavier
because we are down tuned half a step on the
guitars. We deliberately went for a more rhythm
Since they first struck the Midlands music scene back in 2011, the Dudley based
grunge-punk-rock-power trio known as Buzzard, have built themselves an impressive
reputation by staging vehement and professional live shows which have earned them
a very loyal fan base. They’ve recently been described them as “...a young Motörhead” -
which arguably may be why they are booked to play alongside the Motörhead tribute
known as Motorheadache at The Robin 2 on November 17th.
