Verdict:
This brand new single 'Snakes And
Ladders' by Birmingham singer songwriter We
Were Demons aka Michael Pritchard shows a
whole new deeper side to this hard working
performer. Lyrically it suggests defiance against
the mind games dished out by a former lover
and moving forwards towards a greater future.
However, I honestly have completely no idea. It
could also be about playing a table top strategy
based board game that involves counters or
pieces moved or placed on a pre-marked
surface according to a set of rules - but this is
highly unlikely. The song is a tenebrific love song
which really boasts some amazing dynamics
and is both powerful and very thought provoking.
A gentle but epic sounding tune which, although
isn't a festive number, could easily pass for a
dark Christmas hit. The song is available now on
Spotify and if you despise this time of year and
prefer to listen to something melodic, intelligent
but sinister instead of the normal overload of
obnoxious family orientated bullshit television
commercials stuffed down your jolly throat then
this is an ideal gift for you.

WE WERE DEMONS
Verdict:
Fuzzbox, otherwise known as We’ve
Got A Fuzzbox And We’re Going To Use It, have
released their first new single in years. A brief
history lesson for those unaware. In the late 80’s
they were one of the biggest all girl pop bands
in the world but came to an end in 1990. Years
later, after playing a few reunion shows, they are
now back for good and armed with brand new
material. 'Let's Go Supernova!' is the first
offering.
A well produced foot stomping Fuzzbox
sandwich, arguably merging the poppier
elements of their previous chart songs like 'Pink
Sunshine' with more punk guitar friendly
anthems such as 'Rules And Regulations'. As a
tune it ticks all boxes of fuzz; fun pop, a little The
Wildhearts-esque even in places and very
entertaining. It's a fresh rejuvenated sound with
a slight nostalgic nod to the 80s; that's when we
had a mad woman as British Prime Minister and
an actor as US President... how things have
changed. Fuzzbox have got a single and we're
going to buy it.
