The New Consistent

The New Consistent

Thursday 19th December | Sunflower Lounge, Birmingham
+ Pool, 11 57, Closed Curtains

The New Consistent is hosting a Christmas Party at The Sunflower Lounge in Birmingham on 19th December. His first headline gig, presented by Qute Zoo Promotions.

The New Consistent is 19 year old Ben Ramsay from Worcester, described as having 'exceptionally personal lyrics' (IndieMidlands) and 'a sharp wit and unique style of delivery that definitely marks him out as one to watch' (So Young). Produced by Austin Williams of Swim Deep, his first two singles 'The New Consistent' and '3 Years’ and debut EP ‘Individual Social Accounts And Commentary' come from the heart, creating an instant rapport with the listener.

Ben told RGG; "It’s due to be a big event, with support coming from Wolverhampton newcomers Pool, the very exciting 11 57 and new Derby dreamboats Closed Curtains. They’ll be a DJ set from Brum indie royalty (to be announced soon) and some very very special guests during the headline set. Plus - I’ll be debuting the entirety of my unreleased second EP.

I’m looking to provide something different than most gigs, with a unique night of new music across many different genres from the first support act to the headline set! Also feel free to dress up Christmassy, and I’m going to be working with the promoter to try and make the set times slightly earlier in order to make it easier if people need to get trains home."

Pool consists of 4 members, Charlie Greenway, Brad Sumner, Brandon Nijjar and new addition, Jake Williams. The band is based in and around the west midlands with the formative line up meeting while still attending High school. As a result of this previous line-up, they went on to release their first double a-side ‘Dogma’ and ‘Surfer Jain’ in July of 2018 which gained the band the accolades of ‘unsigned artist of the week’ from the OFI Worldwide radio show and ‘single of the week’ from Words For Music blog along with airtime on BBC introducing. “Their presence and sound were extremely full on, impacting the audience like a truck” - Counteract Magazine

Piercing through the Birmingham music scene come 11 57, a young heavy rock band with elements of punk and modern psychedelia. The group are influenced by bands such as Tame Impala, Idles, The Strokes and Queens of the Stone Age. They’ve found an explosive sound and attitude which delivers a refreshing punch in the face alongside the usual indie scene that has dominated Birmingham for the last few years. Forming in spring 2019 the band was initially a 2 piece, with front man Joey on guitar and drummer Bailey, but the band wouldn’t be complete without bassist and co front man, Mitch. The band achieves its raw energy by merging growling bass riffs and creative technical drumming with Joey’s dynamic guitar playing, showcasing a perfect mix of both menacing and soft tones.

Alternative acoustic duo Closed Curtains formed just a year ago, when the talents of Dani Murden + Lee Reidy met at an open mic night in Derby. With their haunting harmonies, the duo quickly made a name for themselves on the scene, recognised for their intertwined voices and intimate sets of covers + originals around the city. Now working on their first single release, the duo are delighted to be announced as a support act for The New Consistent and bringing their unique chemistry and new material to Birmingham.
