RGG November 2015 - p.15
Verdict:
Cult rugged Wolverhampton tongue in psychedelic satirical
cheek lords of punk The Nightingales return with a new album that's a
welcome continuation of their ever evolving and ever not giving a fuck about rules attitude to
songwriting. Terrific humour, surreal hooks that shouldn't work but do and great precision playing.
The band was a favourite of John Peel and with cool songs like 'The Only Son', 'Gales Doc', and
'Great British Exports' you just know that he'd be raving about this album if he was still on earth
today. This really is a good catch.

Verdict:
Musicians Gabriel Sucea and Axel
Grassi-Havnen team up once more to produce the follow
up album to last years 'Heaven and Hell' release. A twelve
strong instrumental album in the spirit of the previous
record but this time greater focus on guitar phrasing and note choice with more of
an overall superior atmospheric sound. The guitars and piano work intertwine
perfectly and effectively create uplifting cinematic touches throughout. It's a
brave one hour and twenty minutes long, well sculpted and radiant with deep
breathtaking moments of melancholy. The huge chilling dynamics with songs
like 'Hotbox' and 'Crossroads' have the passion of great players such as Thomas
Newman whilst other tracks like 'Slay' go one further with synth and offer a hint of
Massive Attack. It's a beautiful and dark album and really will inspire you. Please
do not overlook this.

Verdict:
In the words of Birmingham band Pleasure House
their single ‘Like A Drug’ is “raising heartbeats with urgent bursts of alt.
rock and shiny pop entwined”. Obviously that's a soundbite. When I listened to it I heard a
great indie song which has a lot of potential. BBC introducing have raved about this band, the
title of the song I think is cleverly and deliberately marketed to earn them more well deserved
attention. This is a very striking and catchy indie dance pop tune and if you dig bands such as
Kings Of Leon, The Hoosiers, White Stripes or The Killers then you should check this out too. It's
well written, commercial and I think there's a real good chance of them doing well with this single.
It comes out on November 6th.
