I tried using my own bands’ music as I've had a lot of commercial radio play from
other stations and contributed in the same way as everybody else It appears that
it's easier for myself to get radio play on local radio stations based in the USA
than on the local BBC WM station Over those eight months of studying all
the results and stories from bands submitting songs to the BBC WM
shows including artists who I have reviewed CDs for over the past few
years who work hard on the live gig circuit get regular bookings from
decent gig promoters and achieve credible EP or Album reviews from
other publications too no one received an email about broadcasting
details for their music
So what does this all mean? Well I've enjoyed various platforms in
Television and Radio over the years presented by the BBC but on a
different national level It appears that their connection with local
audiences is trapped in the
s More local radio stations in the Midlands
are slowly rising in popularity and they seem to be doing a far superior job
than BBC WM local radio That's what I believe That's the reality otherwise
you'd be hearing a lot more of the artists who are listed in publications like this
one and others who are booked for big Midland shows regularly because they
do their utmost to sell tickets often I imagine without help from a local radio
station The majority of the regions’ best talent of multiple genres are ignored
Now that doesn't seem like a local or friendly service does it? Now i'm sure some
smart arse will tell me that most of these rising radio stations are also owned by
the BBC Maybe they are but they certainly seem to be more professional
I try and review as many CDs as I can for RGG magazine Not all make it to publication
but I do my best I see no evidence of BBC WM doing their best Some of the music they've
broadcast that I studied sounded as if it was recorded off Instagram On the

section of the BBC WM upload site the last thing I said to them was that as a
songwriter and serious CD reviewer I can't possibly recommend BBC WM as an effective local
radio station for exposing talent I doubt they even read it
