This magazine obviously does an important job of spreading info about live events
and the music of artists from the Birmingham and the Black Country and
surrounding areas but this month I'd like to focus on two of the regions’
almost unsung heroes Heroes who battle every day to do something
positive for our ever expanding music scene and also share results from
an investigation I conducted into BBC WM Radio
Not everyone takes local radio seriously and this I believe needs to
change because as a radio service they appear a lot more reliable as
broadcasters Whether voluntary or not there are a lot of serious
passionate people who dedicate their time to helping others and share
music from out of our region I'm talking about two radio stations in
particular Black Country Radio and Brum Radio who really are the only
two main stations willing to broadcast a lot of the artists currently on the
live gig circuit in the Midlands With your help and support they can possibly
become evenmore effective and relevant to your music scene Here are the main

I've personally heard so many complaints in the past months from bands and artists
from this region who regularly contact BBC WM via their upload site
receive a message every time explaining to them that their latest track has been listened to
by someone on the BBC WM team and that if their song is worthy of
airplay then they'd let them know when it is to be broadcast I recently finished
conducting my own investigation over the last eight months into the BBC WM local radio
shows I spoke to various emerging (as yet unbroadcast by the BBC WM team) bands and
songwriters from Birmingham and the BlackCountry and I suggested they regularly
upload their latest songs to BBC WM No one I spoke to about this ever got broadcast
