The annual farce of an award ceremony
celebrating anything they can think of to avoid

friend Commissioner Gordon from the Batman
movies was honoured with the task of
accepting on behalf of David and his family
Annie Lennox beforehand gave a powerful
speech explaining that Bowie's songs have
inspired every generation and that “
he drew us
all away from our suburban lives
” highlighting
the miraculous fake moon landing that inspired
the song Space Oddity She continued to say
that he was “
a quintessential visionary pushing
the limits of his shape shifting persona
” and
