Verdict:
The Debut album from Dudley five-piece metal
band LEFT FOR RED has been talked about for some time by
music journalists writing about the UK metal scene, the hype is
well deserved and let it be known that a few years ago I was the first reviewer to suggest that
this band could be the next BLACK SABBATH and it's looking like my prediction was correct.
'Master Of The Game' (which has a phobia-themed music video on YouTube) sets up the
album with their distinct trademark metal groove sound; the songwriting on 'All Things Known
And Buried' is tremendously stepped up and a natural progression after their previous
EP’s ‘Vol 001 Empty Shell’ and ‘Vol 002 Mercy Flight’, tracks like 'Reborn' in the same
vein throw chunks of metal at you and frontman LC gives a performance that clearly
advertises him as one of the UK's most versatile metal vocalists; as a band they're solid.
'Utopia' is a departure from their normal head crushing as it features beautiful piano playing
performed by KEREN SMITH and it fits in well. The highlight on this album for me is 'Shat-
ter' as it's just such a good song by the band with a pounding riff that defines the before
mentioned trademark sound of LEFT FOR RED.

Verdict:
An impressive single from the debut album 'Crude Jokes, Death
Notes & Unicorns' by British band CRASHGATE. A bloody good hard rock
track reminding me attitude wise of bands like THE ALMIGHTY, GODSMACK, BLACK STONE CHERRY
and ALTER BRIDGE. There's a great music video for 'Tear It Down' directed by DANIEL HOST on
YouTube. It's a tough sounding riff driven sledge hammer of a tune with great vocals by front man CRAIG
SHERIDAN. 'Tear It Down' at times has that kind of VELVET REVOLVER 'Slither' feel in places but this is a
much more harder and heavier tune. Great band and currently preparing their second album so look out for
these guys as this is a superb example of British rock
