Verdict:
For a solo artist this is a real ear opener of an
album with a huge retro pop rock feel; there are so many
moments on here that give off a heavy Paul McCartney
vibe; especially the more quirky romantic pop songs of his; just listen to 'Sally Ann'
or 'Dear Rosa' and you'll understand exactly what I'm talking about; I'd also hazard
a guess and credit influences such as ELO and maybe even Bowie. It juxtapositions
genres and themes but 'Odds & Sodd' is a well produced album with a loving noose
around the past and beautifully executed. Highlights for me are 'Hearts and minds'
which is just so much a salute to The Who and album closer 'Family Guy' with it's
fun wild west piano rock. There are some wonderful songs on here with real life. It's
good songwriting and Mark Britton needs to be heard more by you. A wonderful
release.

Verdict:
Filmed by Andy Taylor for Midlands rock band Soley Mourning comes this
entertaining 16 minute short film which fuses two of their tunes 'Gumstream' and 'The Rocket
Pool' from their fourth album also titled “The Rocket Pool' and further showcases the bands’
creativeness in front of the camera. I won't give away too much plot but if you enjoyed the film
'Dead Man's Shoes' then you'll probably enjoy this too. Also check out their other videos including
their recent release “Accidental Enemies” and their classic “Easy Life” with a comical eating contest.
