The NU, created by singer- songwriter Darius Zaltash, combines the electric atmosphere of the dance world and the raw energy of rock’n’roll to pioneer a fresh approach to music, drawing inspiration from acts such as INXS, Crystal Castles and Jane’s Addiction. The event is also serving as the launch of “Living It Up” - the new single by The Nu. Darius told us... “Living it up is a soaring electro indie rock anthem about the challenges and joys of pursuing your dream in an everchanging toxic environment where you need to trust your gut, be spontaneous and most importantly make sure you’re enjoying yourself. Sonic Influence behind the track comes fromThe Killers, Lorde,The Chainsmokers and Crystal Castles!.The music industry is notorious for controversy and scandal and can sometimes be a very dark place, I’d like to think Living It Up is some sort of motivational guidance to that I guess.” calendar-alt 4th September An Evening of Martin History “Guitar Guitar invite you all to our Birmingham store to enjoy an Evening of Martin History and celebrate the launch of our new Martin room. If you play their guitars, or simply find them as impressive and awe-inspiring as we do then you don’t want to miss this laid back and relaxed look at how they’ve developed over the years.” calendar-alt 17th September PeteThorn Suhr Clinic “ Easily among our favourite modern players, Pete Thorn is one of those rare guitarists who’s capable of both baffling and amazing you with his playing. Pete is also a self-confessed gear nerd with an unwavering passion for the latest guitar tech! Last year, we had the pleasure of chatting with Pete about his guitars along with his gigging and recording rigs and his enthusiasm is absolutely infectious. He loves geeking out over the latest gear just as much as he loves playing and his knowledge is so unparalleled that any time we link up with Pete, we always learn a few new tricks.” calendar-alt 23rd September Lari Basilio Lari Basilio was born into a musical household in São Paulo, Brazil. After her father taught her a few chords on an acoustic guitar, Lari borrowed her youngest brother’s guitar. Her very first guitar of her own was a Stratocaster copy she bought with money she made from a part-time job. Being a technical yet melodic player has always come naturally to Lari. Many feel that she has taken the electric guitar in a new direction and, at the same time, brought it to a new level. www.ryansgigguide.com rgg Sep 2019 27
