The Papito Party is a new event at Muthers Studio which hopes to add fuel to the growing fire of Bir- mingham’s live music scene. By Billy Smallman-Köpf The Papito Party initially start- ed life as an idea for a one off event showcasing some of the talent that reside in, or uses the studio’s facilities. As the list of bands and artists grew so did the possibilities and in turn the initial concept had to evolve. Whilst all the artists involved may not now all be exclu- sively residents, we have an event where Muthers and its patrons are at the centre of the party but we now have a vehicle that allows us to invite our favourite acts from across the country to play and party in our beloved home. Muthers Studio is predomi- nantly a rehearsal and record- ing studio by day but to many that have crossed its threshold it is much more than. In addition to the two licensed bars that wouldn’t be out of place in a city centre watering hole, there are 5 hourly re- hearsal spaces, a 150 capacity live music venue, recording fa- cilities, a humble kitchen and 2 stories of permanent resident artists lock ups. Whether you make music or just love listening to it, Muthers has been the refuge for many of Birmingham’s most inventive and outlandish musicians and artists for well over a decade now. Papito Party is our chance to open the doors to those who have not yet discovered this long standing gem of a hideout with high-calibre live musi- cal performances, homemade food and most importantly a great atmosphere full of fresh and exciting surprises with each outing. Right in the heart of Digbeth, a 5 minute walk from the coach station and only ten minutes from the City Centre,Muthers Studio is perfectly situated for all.
