Best Female Lady Sanity Best Male Dapz On The Map Best Band JAWS Special Recognition Award Louise Brierley Cultural Impact in Music Judas Priest Brum Bastion Brian Travers Rising Star Mayday The 2nd annual Birmingham Music Awards was held on 16th of May at The Mill in Digbeth with a host of representives from the local music community in attendance. Hosted by BBC Music IntroducingWM’s Alex Noble, there were stunning performances by some of Brum’s finest established and up- and-coming artists and awards galore dished out by sponsors and music legends alike, including OMD’s Andy McCluskey and Heaven 17’s MartinWare. Founder member of The Move Trevor Burton, was present to receive a Lifetime Achieve- ment award, with Soweto Kinch & Judas Priest accepting their awards via video. UB40’s Brian Travers, who had recent brain surgery and was unable to attend, was named Brum Bastion. The ceremony ended with a short set from JAWS, who won Best Band. Oh and, I almost forgot, RGG were stunned and honoured to win the award for Best Mag/Vlog/Blog. This event is sure to keep on growing in size & stature to promote the HUGE Birmingham Music Scene.
