Sheila Waterfield Sheila’s sound is a unique blend of jazz, Latin, folk, soul and blues. She is an accomplished, award winning vocalist and a very popular performer at music venues and festivals. She is one of those impressive singers who can instill a beautiful warm delicacy into ballads and a lively, spirited energy into the blues. Sheila was born and grew up in Coventry, England and is the youngest of seven sisters, many of whom are accomplished musicians and singers.The family’s love of music and singing was largely influenced by Sheila’s Mother who herself grew up in a large traditional Irish family where music, singing and dance was part of everyday life. Her Father was a naturally gifted and talented singer and sang the songs of Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra effortlessly.These early influences of Irish, folk and jazz music set the scene for Sheila’s musical journey thus far. Sheila demonstrated her love of singing from a very young age and from the tender age of seven, performed at festivals and competitions in England and Ireland. By the age of twelve she was featured on Radio Eireann having won the title of ‘All England Champion’ in traditional Irish singing. Sheila was also part of The ShannonYouth Ceilidh Band with whom she regularly sang and played the Irish whistle. From the early 90’s Sheila found herself to be an in demand vocalist, from original projects to high end function work, providing lead and backing vocals for many of the UK’s top bands.
