Ryan's Gig Guide - August 2019

The Finlayson line up consists of three series: the 5, the 50, and the 100.The 5 series sees a laminate back and sides made of Cherry wood, the 50 series brings us into the realm of solid wood back and sides with a mid focused Mahogany, and the 100 series encompasses the classic singer-songwriter wood combo bringing a solid Rosewood back and sides into the equation. The scooped mid makes perfect space for vocals. The company have loaded all their guitars with a Fishman Sonitone pickup. Now you can pummel all that harmonic richness into the faces of your audiences on a massive scale. Every single top on the 50 and 100 series guitars has been individually tested for harmonic content, rigidity and flexibility. As every cut of wood has its own characteristics, each top has been cut to the most efficient thickness possible. This pressure test is another step to ensuring your guitar can withstand the extreme amounts of pressure it is subject to whilst retaining its best sounding self. Another small but significant feature which should not be overlooked is the bridge. This is the sonic gateway between the strings and the body of the guitar. You may notice under close inspection the break angle is more severe than what you would expect from a traditional saddle. The result is more downward tension and better transfer of kinetic energy. The bridge is also glued directly onto the body, opposed to having a layer of finish between the connection which is more common than you may expect. The result is less stuff in the way to dampen precious energy, but it also creates a stronger connection that will last the tests of time. These guitars are exclusive to Guitar Guitar so make sure you get to your local store and give them a strum! www.ryansgigguide.com rgg Aug 2019 31
