Ryan's Gig Guide - September 2018
The Verdict Reviews by Nick J Townsend Singer/songwriter Sid River aka Shot- gun Marmalade has produced a quality 11-track full-band album demonstrat- ing a DIY punk ethic that will appeal to fans of genres as diverse as indie, punk, folk & Brit-pop Infused with an obvious Clash influence that goes deeper than the cover art, Denim Credibility gets the album off to a fast- paced start with a guitar riff reminis- cent of Green Days' Warning. The pace continues with the punky Many Feet Are Dancing, before mellowing out nicely with Curses which, could easily be Noel Gallagher' High Flying Birds casually playing to thousands at a festival. According to all sources takes us into country/folk territory. This album flows so well yet still manages to switch genre without jarring whatsoever and cli- maxes with the skank-inducing PhilWantsTo Know and the potential hit singles If Not NowThenWhen & Bang! Bang! Disappear! www.shotgunmarmalade.bandcamp.com ALBUM Hopeless Row by Shotgun Marmalade This genius album is art-rock-opera at its best. Full of black humour and packed with stories & early 90s sounding synths, it doesn't try to be cool which makes it very cool in my book. With a whopping 16 tracks Jonathan Markwood's Hoo-Hah Conspiracy are: Jonathan Markwood (vocals & bass), Jim Streets (guitar), Tony Holt (drums) www.jonathanmarkwoodshoohahconspiracy.com ALBUM Telling Tales by Hoo-Hah Conspiracy ...Fat Bloke With No Tattoos/musical knowledge stands in this month www.ryansgigguide.com 12 rgg Sep 2018
