Ryan's Gig Guide - November 2018

Halesowen heroes The Teenage Zombies release a 14 track album recommended for fans ofThe Stingrays,The Grims,The Formaldehydes,The Krewmen,The Meteors and any other psychobilly band with a 'the'. Highlights are the rockabilly strong 'Am I A Demon', the insane hypnotic riff of 'Grave Dance' and the glorious rhythm and blues number 'Stone Cold Killer' which is my favourite on here for it's kind of musical nod toTheAn- imals.Album closer 'Just Can'tWait' is the perfect end- ing and a slick finish; arguably the best song on here is 'Fridge Full Of Zombies' which in regards to their cho- sen genre stamps their authority with ease. A superb psychobilly rock release. www.facebook.com/The.Teenage.Zombies.Psychobilly PSCHOBILLY ALBUM of the month Smoke & Mirrors by The Teenage Zombies Arguably their rawest and least offensive release to date. Bewdley's dirtiest low tech rockers return with 14 new songs and a far more prominent live band feel all with a 3 minute warning. Highlights are the Misfits- esque catchy guitar crazy 'DepressParade' with the great line "I just get depressed all the time", not forget- ting the tune 'Headless Body In ATopless Bar' with the genius follow up lyric "That was my only crime". "I Don't BelieveYou" should be the score to the Grease sound- track for it's darn fine panache and middle finger vigour. The most confident track is 'Glove Love' with its dark floor filling energy. An unashamedly in your face release, uplifting and ticks the punk box with a sledgehammer. Excellent work. www.reverbnation.com/thealopeciatrio BAD TASTE ALBUM of the month Magpie by The Alopecia Trio rgg Nov 2018 13 www.ryansgigguide.com
