Ryan's Gig Guide - November 2018
The Verdict Reviews by Nick J Townsend West Midland band Bleeding Hearts re- lease this well crafted 11 song album fea- turing a horde of warm original tunes. What makes their album sound so solid are the fine details such as clinically pre- cision written vocal harmonies, beautiful smooth guitar and bass work and a drum- mer that can perfectly bring them alto- gether without sounding out of place. Highlights include the ballsy modern media fuelled punk folk rock of 'Three Wise Monkeys', theatrical opener 'The Devils Mosh', and the catchy slow pace jig of 'Common Man' with it's irresistible la la la lah and a dynamic epic bridge. This is a band with a long extensive history, have toured the US and Europe with many other CD releases which if anything like this one should definitely all be in your collection. To me they're a more exciting version of The Levellers and I mean no dis- respect by that. Bleeding Hearts are bleeding good. www.bleedinghearts.co.uk ALBUM of the month The Rules Of Division by Bleeding Hearts Incredible 7 track release from energetic Black Country alt-rock trio Labelled Dead. Recommended for fans of Smashing Pumpkins, Greenday, Nirvana, The Offspring and Foo Fighters. Highlights are 'No Affection' with it's brilliant guitar work, 'The Chav Song' and the infectious sing along anthem 'Growing Pains'. Imagine every cool band from the mid 90s in one band with a twist of mil- lennial magic; you've not heard these songs before and you need to.Title track 'Shadows Of Binary' is by far the darkest and most strongest song here with its rich depth and dynamics. An amazing fresh release totally recom- mended. www.labelleddead.co.uk ARTIST of the month Shadows Of Binary by Labelled Dead 12 rgg Nov 2018 www.ryansgigguide.com
