Ryan's Gig Guide - June 2018
www.ryansgigguide.com rgg June 2018 9 It's rare to see a band this young make music with the soul, passion and song writing prowess of say Chris Rea, The Animals, Nirvana or The Pixies. Black country based alternative four piece Giant And The Georges is formed of two broth- ers (the georges), a tall man (the Giant) and forth member who I don't believe had an effect on the band name unless his nickname is "And". I watched GATG play at The Foundry in Dudley and immediately ordered them to send me their music. 'Dopamine' will be their debut single and even though I love it; my favourite tracks by them they have yet to release. I've heard this bands complete set and it's solid as a pornstars cock. 'Dopamime' will of course be their first song made available to the public and as a tune it feels like you've successfully walked into the mind-set of a band with thirty year touring history; filled with well executed hooks, catchy riffs and enough dynamics to topple any loudness war; there's even some touching and del- icate, dare I say, Black Francis-esque spoken moments but this is a completely new spin on it.A bite sized version of every cool art-indie band there is with something of them- selves included. This will be a huge band if they believe in themselves. www.facebook.com/GiantandtheGeorges PROMO of the month (released July 27th) Dopamine by Giant And The Georges Prepare to be blown away; Halesowen now has a brand new music hero. This is genuine star power; I've seen a lot of bands knocking about but when you see a diamond this big then you immediately consider getting down on one knee and wearing this band on your wedding finger be- cause it's so sparkly and shiny. Imagine P!nk was the singer of No Doubt instead of Gwen Stefani or better still imagine her name is Emily Abbiss; the band is musically superior to most indie pop bands no doubt (wink) about it. Debut single 'Again And Again' is a small taster from the up- coming album 'Short Breaks & Sh*t Food' and it's the whole package; blinding musicianship from Black Country proud Ed Strong whoWILL take a huge foothold in this areas music scene mark my words.Their songs are chart worthy master- pieces and they indicate all the hallmarks of a band suited to touring the world. 'Again And Again' reeks of female fronted genius and I recommend you snap this single now whilst they are in their infancy because in some manner they will have great future suc- cess; you honestly cannot beat this band for it's sheer blinding natural talent. I saw them play live at ClapTrap the venue in Stourbridge and that convinced me. www.facebook.com/edstrongmusic SINGLE of the month Again And Again by Ed Strong
