www.ryansgigguide.com 20 rgg July 2018 I've been lucky enough to be an Istan- bul Agop Cymbals Artist since I signed with them in September 2015 & have been a UK ambassador for them ever since. Most notably I demonstrated for them at the London Drum Show in Olympia, London in November 2016. I'm focusing today on two, major cym- bal lines that Istanbul Agop Cymbals launched at the NAMM Music Show in Anaheim, California, 25th to 28th Jan- uary this year. The first is the Sterling REVIEW: Istanbul Agop Cymbals By Simon Greenhill Ride, pictured below. These rides were designed in collaboration with Istanbul Artist Aaron Sterling. There are two dif- ferent models to choose from, a 20" & a 22". I'll be focussing on the 20" for this review. The aim of these Rides is to capture the best attributes of the much sought after 60s era Rides. The 20" Sterling Ride has a high pro- file bell which has a lovely, bright tone when played with the tip of the stick & warmer more complexed tones come through when playing with the shoul- der of the stick. This cuts through nicely. The main body of the cymbal has an articulate, clear stick sound which is a gorgeous pitch that would sit well in most styles of music & cut through nicely, though in my opinion it would work best in the studio or for Jazz, Pop, R&B & Funk. Another great feature of this cymbal is a great low, full bod- ied, quick decay crash. This is a lovely Ride which would
