Ryan's Gig Guide - December 2018

The Verdict Reviews by Nick J Townsend 12 rgg Dec 2018 www.ryansgigguide.com Absolutely wonderful. There's a huge demand for the abstract and this brand new release by Spaztic Robot from Stourbridge certainly punches it hard like a dark arthouse movie with a wild 3D soundtrack. Highlights are "Shark Attack" which is possibly one of the most haunting songs I've heard in a while with perfect cold poetic lyrics. My favourites were 'We C U', 'Blasphemous Rumours' and a very brave atmo- spheric and trippy cover of Heart Shaped Box by Nirvana. There's a real mixture of music styles; rec- ommended for fans of PopWill Eat Itself, Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd, Ministry and every cool 90s film score. Superb. www.facebook.com/SpazticRobot ALBUM of the month Spaztic Robot & The Epileptic Moth by Spaztic Robot This is brilliant alternative rock. I absolutely loved this; personally as a band I think Turning Black Like Lizards are kinda like hearing a brand new version of The Jesus And Mary Chain, The Velvet Under- ground or The Pixies; they're that good. Excellent epic guitar work, fun quirky Basslines, rhythm you can just swing to and vocally or lyrically it's surgically stitched in like a pro. 'Spirals' is the main single re- lease but the extra tracks 'Always StaringAtThe Sun' and 'Watch The Flowers' are equally as enthralling and rich with texture. It's road trip music and done so well. My favourite CD this month for certain and I totally recommend you seek their music out. www.turningblacklikelizards.bandcamp.com SINGLE of the month Spiral Eyes by Turning Black Like Lizards
