Following on from a bostin’ Black Country Weekend, Black Country Living Museum is hosting
its first ever Black Country Night. Featuring a whole host of entertainment from across the
region, visitors can expect an evening of ‘Black Country Tapas’, street entertainment, legendary
tribute acts and much more.
Confirmed to perform are local internet sensation The Empty Can, who rose to prominence
after their evocative song ‘I Vow to thee Black Country’ became a hit with Black Country folk
the world over. There will also be music from some truly talented local musicians and choirs,
including Brett Huckfield and Linda Simpson performing on stage at the Museum’s Folkes’
Park. A host of local stand-up comedy acts will also be performing on stage in the Workers’
Institute including a very special tribute act in the form of local legend Dolly Allen, the
performance marking 70 years since her first stand up routine in 1944.
Visitors are of course invited to sample some ‘Black Country Tapas’ while washing it all down
with a selection of local ales by Saddlers Brewery, including the newly launched ‘Peaky
Blinders’ ale. There’s also plenty to see and do at the Museum, including the Newcomen Engine
in steam, metal working demonstrations and if you’re feeling daring, a descent ‘into the thick’
of our underground mine.
