So for the tidy price of two fines for chucking a
telly out a hotel window you can get ‘connected’
and hopefully ‘seen’ and then ‘signed’ before
driving off into a rainbow bedecked sunset of
hedonism and dwarfs
Result right?
Well I don’t know See there’s nothing
objectionably wrong with having someone else do
all the leg work and spend their afternoons getting
banned from a smorgasbord of forums and
websites spamming the link to your bands latest
offerings; businesses have grown from one lone
person offering to create a dozen fake followers
for five bucks to become entire floors of offices
filled with desk jockeys on minimum wage
burning through keyboards to an ungodly
soundtrack of notification tones and capchas
And morally there’s little room to object either
being nothing more than advertisers of brand You
So if you take the approach of buying advertising
for your brand rather than buying into the dream
of insta follower fame it becomes a more
attractive angle of many jointed sprockets
Take away the logo emblazoned front end and
testimonials written by the unpaid interns and
they are all pretty much of the same cloth cut
slightly different to cover differing areas Some are
more skilled at getting your sounds into ears
whereas others are better equipped to see you
discussing your latest ventures with a slew of radio
shows Headlining gigs or even a mini tour there’s
a package to cater for it and an accordingly priced
tithe to pay
None of them can guarantee you a future career
parking Rolls Royce’s into swimming pools; but
they can offer you one (or more) legs up the
ladder to the window of opportunity and the soft
money filled pillows supporting the phalanx of
’companions’ deported about the place with
litheness and patience in equal measure inviting
you to a spot beside them on the bed of a
comfortable retirement therein
Or at the very least a dwarf
