John Davis: Many of you older folk out there
will remember John from the infamous Bogart’s
on New Street. Days when under the name of
Studio One Sound Services, in the late 70’s, he
supplied live music every Wednesday night and
Saturday lunchtime. Some of the local bands
at that time included, Jameson Raid, Quartz and
Cryer….the list was endless.
Some of you may recall one particular Sunday
when The Clash were due to play at the Rag
Market and the council refused them permis-
sion. Studio One were promoting ‘Warhead’ at
Barbarellas that particular night along with
their full sound system and the night ended up
with The Clash on the bill. A night to remem-
ber it certainly was. It took S1 two days to
clean the up the equipment following the gig!
After Bogart’s John decided to venture into
other projects and moved away from the music
scene for a while.
In 2007 John and his wife Jan moved to
Shenstone, near Lichfield. One Saturday
evening they decided to take a stroll down to
the local pub, walked through the door and dis-
covered they were the only customers in there.
They decided they would change this situation
and turned to John’s cousin, Pete Zimmer to put
on his band for John’s Birthday Bash. The place
was heaving and the landlord asked them to put
on regular music nights there. That they did
and the buzz for live music was back and ERN-
DOR50 was born.
In the latter part of 2007 a chance meeting with
Bill Jefferson (drummer The Trevor Burton
Band) led to a conversation and they were invit-
ed to meet with Trevor to discuss the possibility
of Erndor50 becoming their management com-
pany, a position that they hold to this day with
great pride.
In the last 7 years Erndor50 have gone from
strength to strength, promoting The Move,
The Bev Bevan Rock Band, The Trevor Burton
Band, Quill, Raymond Froggatt, The Steve
Gibbons Band, Del Bromham as well as many
local bands throughout the UK. They have
recently added a venue management package
which enables venues to concentrate on their
business while Erndor50 ensure that they are
never without good quality live acts. Erndor50
have also built up good working relationships
with two of the most respected music agencies
in the UK, Rock Artiste Management and Brian
Yeates Associates. Recent activity has been the
