If you are out and about in Wolverhampton and
looking for a fix of open mic or acoustic gigs
then you ain’t gonna go far wrong if you stick
your head in either The Stile in Fawdry Street or
The Newhampton Inn Riches Street both in the
Whitmore Reans area so not far to travel
between the two Whilst I’m on about these two
pubs it’s worth mentioning that they are both
‘proper pubs’ meaning they sell great real ale
have music and pool rooms and unusually in this
day and age both have lovely gardens and
bowling greens which to be fair isn’t a
particularly bad way to while away an afternoon
whilst catching some rays on yer bonce and
getting a few pints of the ever popular down
your gullet However back to the main story
which is that they both host regular Open Mic
and acoustic session nights and this is very likely
where you might find Megan Reece & Chris
Nicholls honing their craft
I’ve been lucky enough to catch Megan & Chris
on a number of occassions recently and have
been impressed by their unasuming demeanor
and friendly personalities whilst still being more
than capable of delivering intricate tight and
involving sets; and it’s always nice to meet up
with talented musicians who for a change
aren’t stuck up their own arses!
To find musicians as good as these supporting headline
acts would be a nice surprise, to find them in your local
boozer is mindblowing!
